Gulab Jal: A Timeless Indian Skincare Ritual

Gulab Jal: A Timeless Indian Skincare Ritual

There is something very comforting about Gulab Jal.

It has been a part of Indian homes and beauty rituals for generations — simple, refreshing and made from something as beautiful as roses.

But Gulab Jal is more than just a nice-smelling mist. Rose water has traditionally been used in Indian and Ayurvedic self-care for its cooling, soothing and refreshing qualities.

What makes our Gulab Jal special?

Good Gulab Jal starts with good roses — but how those roses are turned into rose water matters too.

Our Gulab Jal comes from Kannauj, a place deeply connected with India's traditional fragrance-making heritage. It is made using the traditional Deg Bhapka method, where fresh rose petals are gently distilled to capture their natural aroma and water.

It is an old, traditional process, but the result fits beautifully into a modern skincare routine.

Our Gulab Jal is also edible and has been tested by a NABL-accredited laboratory. For us, knowing what goes into our products — and being transparent about it — is just as important as how they feel on your skin.

Why use Gulab Jal?

Gulab Jal is one of those simple things you can easily add to your everyday routine.

It can help:

  • Refresh the skin

  • Give the skin a light, hydrated feel

  • Soothe and calm the feeling of tired skin

  • Make your skincare routine feel more refreshing

And honestly, you don't always need a complicated 10-step routine. Sometimes, a few sprays of Gulab Jal are enough to make your skin feel fresh again.

How can you use it?

There is no one right way to use Gulab Jal. You can make it a small part of your routine in whichever way feels natural to you.

As a face mist
Spritz it directly onto clean skin whenever your face needs a little refresh.

After cleansing
Use it after washing your face and before your moisturiser or other skincare.

Throughout the day
Keep it nearby and use it whenever your skin feels tired, especially on warm days.

With your skincare rituals
You can also use it with simple DIY or traditional skincare rituals like ubtan, when appropriate for your skin.

What should you look for in Gulab Jal?

Not every bottle labelled “rose water” is the same.

When choosing one, take a look at the ingredient list, how it has been made, and whether it contains unnecessary added fragrance or other additives.

Traditional distillation is one of the things we value because it keeps the process close to how Gulab Jal has been made for generations.

A little Gulab Jal, a little pause

For us, Gulab Jal isn't about complicated beauty rituals.

It is about bringing a little bit of an old Indian tradition into everyday life.

A few sprays. The natural aroma of roses. A small moment to slow down.

Sometimes, self-care can really be this simple.
